Built in 1834, it offers an exceptional 360° panoramic view of the Basque coast, the ocean and the mountains from the top of its 248 steps. 44 meters high, the lighthouse of Biarritz was erected on the former Cap Hainsart.

What to visit in Biarritz?
There are many sites to visit in Biarritz, starting with the Hôtel du Palais, rebuilt on the site of the villa of Empress Eugenie. The Casino municipal, anchored on the beach, is also worth a visit. It is in art-deco style and perfectly illustrates the architectural heritage of the city. Built in 1929, and renovated in 1994, the municipal casino, has become over the years, the symbol of the architecture of the city of Biarritz.
It was classified as a historical monument in 1992. Among the religious monuments of Biarritz, there is also the imperial chapel, built in 1864 at the request of Empress Eugénie de Montijo. Dedicated to the Mexican Black Madonna Our Lady of Guadalupe, the imperial chapel was classified as a historical monument in 1981.
The visit continues to the Museum of the Sea. Opened in 1935, this magnificent art-deco monument contains more than 150 species of fish and invertebrates from the Bay of Biscay, various collections of birds and cetaceans, a cave with sharks and the seal basin.
